Welcome EMAN Hamilton Academy Parents and Students!
You may have noticed me around the building. My name is Ms. Jennifer Sieracki, and I'm here at Hamilton Academy as a Reading Specialist.
What is a Reading Specialist?
A Reading Specialist acts as a reading/writing resource person for all the classroom teachers. A Reading Specialist helps a teacher with reading/writing strategies and techniques. Collaboration between the Title 1 program and
the classroom teacher is very important for increased student reading/writing
performance and test scores.
Student Support
The Reading Specialist will provide student support by: administering reading assessments, evaluating standardized test scores, and by conferencing with the classroom teacher. The student will be offered services in either the regular
classroom, English Language Arts Tutoring Room, or the Math Tutoring Room. Written parent or guardian permission is required prior to working with any student.
Parent and Family Support
Reading is a lifetime skill tied closely to becoming a successful and productive adult in the future. Practicing at home what’s learned in the school environment is vital for achieving reading success.
An important home-school connection with this program is our compact. A
compact is a signed agreement where the teacher, the parent/guardian, and the student all share in the responsibility of working towards student achievement.
Thank you for stopping by my page!
